UK Public Say NO to ‘Green’ Taxes Again: Must be ‘Confused’
Yet another survey reported in The Guardian suggests that the British public have rumbeld the fact that the ‘green’ agenda has been hijacked for the purpose of revenue raising:
The Guardian: ‘British Public unwiling to pay for climate change bill’
Excerpt:
“However more than seven out of 10 of the nearly 2,000 people questioned said they were unwilling to pay higher taxes to combat environmental issues, and a similar number believed the green agenda had been “hijacked” to increase taxes.”
“Public confusion was also a result of having a debate which was too “narrowly” focused on pitting the environment against economic wealth and other issues, said Tom Compton, change strategist for environmental group WWF.”
Must be a sign of the current crazy times we live in – common sense is now regarded as ‘confusion,’ and aren’t the WWF supposed to be the World Wildlife Fund!?

I suppose WWF would claim an interest due to possible effects on wildlife due to climate changes.

Habitat loss, hunting etc are problems for wildlife, not CO2. Anyway, according to the IPCC it would take 50 to 200 years for equilibrium to be reached after man stops emitting CO2 – rather a long time for wildlife to wait.

I think WWF would say that C02 may be an indirect cause of habitat loss, and something is better than nothing, but in any case I had little respect for WWF because of their inconsistency, notably with regard to sustainable use of wildlife. They seem to follow the money rather than their principles in some cases, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this is one of them.
