UAH Globally Averaged Satellite-Based Temperature (Jan. 1979 – Sept. 2008)
When one takes into consideration that the cooling from the Mt. Pinatubo eruption and the warming from the 1997-98 El Nino event were not part of any underlying long-term trend, we can imagine that globally-averaged temperatures were flat from 1990 until 2000, then there was a brief warming until about 2002, after which temperatures have once again remained flat. Note that the longer temperatures remain flat the greater the warming that will be required to put us back ‘on track’ to match the climate model projections used by the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The coming months and years should be interesting.

It doesn’t matter what the scientific information is on global warming, the Al Gore inconvenient and expensive myth version of global warming transfers great wealth from the private sector into government hands. This transfers power from the great mass of people participating in the open market of ideas, trade and invention to the generally narrow-minded individuals who instinctively gravitate toward political power and control. Global warming is the politically correct reality. If evidence to the contrary becomes overwhelming, they will modify their slogan into “climate control” and continue down their road of unbridled government spending. This in turn will destroy the American economy and any western economies who cooperate with us in this parade of the “Emperor’s New Clothes”.
