Roger Pielke Sr: No Funded Indpendent Assessment of IPCC WG1 Report

Roger Pielke Sr has an interesting post on his Climate Science blog entitled, ‘Protecting The IPCC Turf – There Are No Independent Climate Assessments Of The IPCC WG1 Report Funded And Sanctioned By The NSF, NASA Or The NRC.’ Do read it all, but Pielke Sr concludes: As it stands now, there are no independent [...]

Aliens More Intelligent Than We Are?

If visitors from another galaxy really are going round destroying wind turbines, then it is the proof we have been waiting for that aliens are more intelligent than we are. The swivel-eyed, intolerant cult, which endlessly shrieks – without proof – that global warming is man-made, has produced many sad effects. The collapse of proper [...]

30% Increase in China’s Coal Production by 2015

BEIJING (AFP) — China is aiming to increase its coal production by about 30 percent by 2015 to meet its energy needs, the government has announced, in a move likely to fuel concerns over global warming.

Domestic Wind Turbines – A Net User of Electricity?

The October 2008 edition of Which? Magazine reported on domestic wind turbines in an article entitled ‘Wind turbine blows cold.’ Which? installed one in a house and monitored it from December 2007 to June 2008. The result was that it used more electricity than it generated. This is because the turbine includes an “inverter” that [...]

‘Big’ Solar Cycle 24 Now Predicted to be Smaller than Cycle 23

Flashback to Dec. 21, 2006: NASA:  Evidence is mounting: the next solar cycle is going to be a big one. 05/01/2009: NASA: Solar Cycle Prediction It seems that NASA’s David Hathaway has changed his mind.

New Paper Urges Caution on Extrapolation of Greenland Glacier Mass Loss

A new paper has been published in Nature Geoscience by Faezeh M. Nick, Andreas Vieli, Ian M. Howat  &  Ian Joughin entitled, ‘Large-scale changes in Greenland outlet glacier dynamics triggered at the terminus.’ The Abstract states: The recent marked retreat, thinning and acceleration of most of Greenland’s outlet glaciers south of 70° N has increased [...]

Chinese Study on the Linkage Between Typhoon Activity and Global Warming

There is a 2008 review article in the Chinese Science Bulletin 53: 2907-2922 entitled, ‘Perspectives on the linkage between typhoon activity and global warming from recent research advances in paleotempestology.’ The Abstract states: The recent increase in typhoon (tropical cyclone) activity has attracted great interest and induced heated debates over whether it is linked to [...]

New Paper Supports a Cosmic Rays-Clouds-Climate Link

A new paper published in the journal Geology gives some support to a link between Galactic Cosmic Rays, cloud formation and climate. The paper by Mads Faurschou Knudsen and Peter Riisager is entitled, ‘Is there a link between Earth’s magnetic field and low-latitude precipitation?’ The Abstract states: Some studies indicate that the solar modulation of [...]

Short Term Sea Level Rise Slows by 20%

A new paper published in Global and Planetary Change by Cazenave et al entitled, ‘Sea level budget over 2003–2008: A reevaluation from GRACE space gravimetry, satellite altimetry and Argo’ suggests that sea level rise has slowed by 20% for 2003 to 2008, compared to 1993 to 2003 (2.5mm/yr compared to 3.1mm/yr). The Abstract states: From [...]
