Greens Caught Fiddling Science Museum ‘Count Me In’ Vote

Science Museum Statement on Prove It! results:

Between Friday 23 and Wednesday 28 October the poll associated with Prove It! was manipulated through repeat voting. This was undertaken by those who wanted to be “counted in” and those who wanted to be “counted out” from the statement: “I’ve seen the evidence. And I want the government to prove they’re serious about climate change by negotiating a strong, effective, fair deal at Copenhagen.” As a result the majority of duplicate votes cast during this period have been removed. Internet polls face this risk and the Science Museum has implemented additional security measures to reduce this risk.

5984 were cast: 764 to counted in and 5220 to counted out. (Correct as at 16.20 Wednesday 28 October)

The Science Museum Press Release is here.

CRN comment: Most of the duplicate voting was by the ‘in’ voters, which made the ‘in’ and ‘out’ votes quite close. Now the the large differential in favour of sanity is restored.

Oh my God. Warming advocates wit integrity at the museum. I’d have never expected it.

“Warming advocates with integrity at the museum.”

    Only because they were pushed…

From the Science Museum website press release:
“Between Friday 23 and Wednesday 28 October the poll associated with Prove It! was manipulated through repeat voting. This was undertaken by those who wanted to be “counted in” and those who wanted to be “counted out” from the statement: “I’ve seen the evidence. It seems to me that the ScienceMuseum is being disingenuous at the very least.

Since the poll began, if you voted to be counted ‘in’, a website page came up giving the message: “To be counted in just tell us who you are*. We’ll pass the results on to the government to let them know where you stand.” Similarly, if you voted to be counted ‘out’, a website page came up giving the message: “To be counted out, just tell us who you are*. We’ll pass the results on to the government to let them know where you stand.”

Both pages contained the information: * We won’t pass on your name or e-mail address. We’ll just use it to send you a confirmation email, and make sure that we only count people once.

In fact nobody, so far as I am aware, received the “confirmation email” as described above until the count was temporarily reset to zero at approximately 17.15 GMT on 27 October. It seems that the ScienceMuseum failed to implement the security measures it claimed to have put in place until 17.15 GMT on 27 October. This is prima facie evidence of complete incompetence on the part of the ScienceMuseum. A national embarrassment!

I don’t think that ScienceMuseum should really be fried about this – it’s all too easy to get technical designs like this wrong. In fact their mistake has exposed, rather than hidden the cheating, lying and generally underhanded nature of climate evangelists.
Top marks to ScienceMuseum for uphold real science, and showing the data as it should be, rather than manipulated and perverted for ‘the cause’

    Trevor Vernon (Pops):

Don’t get me started, Phil, but they should be fried AND toasted.

There is no admission charge to get into the museum. Why not? Because it runs on donations, some internal charges for the various attractions, but mostly taxpayers’ hard-earned but seemingly readily-squandered money (more than £30 million a year and they still think they’re underfunded). This means that they don’t squander what limited resources they have, and rightly so, but with their mind-set (and political leadership)you can see where it leads. Instead of paying to set-up this poll correctly, I believe that THEY firmly believed that they could do it on the cheap because no one would possible want to rig the vote. Why not? Well, because, as they all thought, the science was settled and everyone would just dance on through the IN door.

As they’ve discovered to their cost, and embarrassment, the science may be settled in their own lead-lined heads but for the majority of us it most definitely is not.

The only question now, is, how long before their political masters tell them to pull the plug? Any guesses?

I told you not to get me started.

The poll was spammed from an article on WUWT http://wattsupwiththat.com/2009/10/23/and-then-what-happens/#more-12043

You can see from the comments how there was a robospam and how people boasted of mutliple voting.
Watts’ update says that he does condone ballot stuffing, but as his comments are moderated why did he allow the vote rigging comments through?

Before his article, you can see from the screen shot he took that the vote stood at 333 In vs 234 Out

    turbobloke:

Oops that should have been Watts does NOT condone ballot stuffing

  8. 8
    Pops:

But look at the poll numbers, turbobloke.

    IN – 874; OUT – 5828, as of 21:50 CET.

    http://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/proveit.aspx

BOTH counters were up near the 6000 mark before the science museum made the poll more secure. Now, three days later, the truth is quite apparent. The OUT box wasn’t stuffed by coolers, but the IN box WAS stuffed by warmers. Now, unable to do anymore stuffing, the warmers must be shivering in their sweaty boots at the prospect of another defeat for their “the science is settled” argument.

Personally typing, I’m glad the box was stuffed because it drew attention to the poll. Far more people know about it now and far more people with cooler heads are voting to be counted OUT.

    James Mayeau:

What is it ? Six to one against. Heh.

This is one of the rarest of rare occurances. Warmers caught out by an independant third party, doing what Al Gore and company have been doing since the beginning, fudging up a “consensus”.

What did the one curator say to the other curator?

Answer – Who’s this Luke Walker character that vote 5000 times?

Seriously, here is the post from Omnilobos recording the warmists in the midst of stuffing the ballot.
UK Science museum fails to prove it.
Together with your two posts and Omni’s the story is covered in a trifecta.

This is your biggest scoop to date at Climate Research News.
I suggest you make a file with a special tag to preserve it in a place of honor.

    Well done!

    turbobloke:

Surely a more accurate title to this article should be both “ins” and “outs” caught stuffing the ballot because that is what the Science Museum says. Or is it only the Greens stuffing that is newsworthy here?

I still find it significant that before WUWT publicised the poll and the stuffing commenced, the vote was 333 In vs 234 Out.

    admin:

No, not really. On the Sunday evening, ‘count me out’ was well ahead, but by Monday morning it was much closer (3000+ votes each) with ‘count me out’ only slightly ahead, which was suspicious. After the ‘un-stuffing’ the vote was/is 6 to 1 in favour of ‘count me out.’ So work it out for yourself!
